CLASS TITLE: SENIOR ARCHAEOLOGIST - SES
ALLOCATION FACTOR(S)
This is professional work coordinating, planning and performing specialized archaeological research
projects relating to broad spectrum or multi-site underwater or terrestrial archaeological activities.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

Coordinates and conducts terrestrial or underwater archaeological surveys and excavations.
Prepares archaeological program and project research designs.
Coordinates archaeological programs and projects carried out by others.
Evaluates site significance and establishes research priorities.
Plans and follows program and work project schedules.
Solicits and coordinates participation of archaeological, historical and scientific specialists from
other institutions in bureau projects.
Performs specialized analyses and interpretations according to individual qualifications.
Prepares written reports and papers for publication and presentation to the public and
professional societies.
Performs related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of archaeological theory and techniques.
Knowledge of report writing techniques.
