1. Understand terms: integer, real number, rational number, whole number, and counting
numbers.
2. Be able to apply the order of operation rules.
3. Solve simple equations by addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
4. Be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide polynomials.
5. Practice simplifying problems involving exponents.
6. Write equations for and solve word problems involving rate, time, and distance, as well
as mixture problems, and work problems.
7. Be able to multiply binomials mentally using F.O.I.L.
8. Practice factoring polynomials. Know the difference of two squares and perfect square
trinomials.
9. Be able to graph linear functions, including using the slope-intercept form, by applying
the formula of slope, as well as locating the x and y intercepts of a line.
10. Understand concepts of slope relating to parallel and perpendicular lines on a graph.
11. Be able to solve problems involving direct and inverse variation.
12. Practice solving systems of linear equations by graphing, substitution, and elimination
methods.
13. Review solving equations that require addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
of rational expressions.
14. Be able to simplify square roots, including rationalizing the denominator.
15. Practice addition, subtraction multiplication and division of radicals.
16. Review the Pythagorean Theorem and distance formula.
17. Be able to solve quadratic equations by the quadratic formula, completing the square and
factoring methods.
18. Review the metric system, and scientific notation.
19. Be able to graph and interpret inequalities in one and two dimensions.
20. Be able to find the vertex, intercepts and the graph of a parabola.
