Oral debate
Imagine you are taking part in a debate about the future of English and other
languages.
Group 1 argues that English will remain the lingua franca
Group 2 argues that modern variations of English (Hinglish, Chinglish, etc) will
replace the English language
Note: Lingua franca – a language used to make communication possible between
people not sharing a mother tongue
Procedure
1.
Each student presents some information on their point – about 2/3
minutes per student
2.
General discussion based on the argument presented.
Total time – approx. 5 minutes
You should not read from the script – only notes are allowed
