APUSH CHAPTER 6 ASSESSMENT:

Directions:

One of the following topics will be completed by each team or partnership. Completion involves successful handling of one of the numbered projects along with the designated questions formatted in a typed-response that is grammar and spell checked as well as incorporating AT LEAST two solid primary or secondary sources that address the content material indicated. Topics may be mutually exchanged. (75-points)

For each assigned topic, I would also like your team to provide evidence that you’ve used two historical skills and helped to answer at least three essential questions.

TOPICS-

1.

Create a visual, model or sketch incorporating three main battles in the

French and Indian War. Identify key colonial, Native American, British and

French figures associated and results of the conflict.

2.

Develop graphic organizer(s) to highlight the attached material for each of the following acts/duties: Sugar, Stamp, Declaratory, Townshend, Tea,

Intolerable Acts and Quebec Act. You must include all of the necessary material for each act/duty and you could choose to use one organizer or the same for each of the acts. You must teach each of the acts/duties.

3.

Record an on-the-spot podcast for the First Continental Congress examining who was there, what the debate/ conversation looked like and what were the effects/ramifications of the congress.

4.

Create an IMovie that shows a discussion between an ardent Tory and Patriot in the Continental Congress: the subject addressed should the colonies declare independence? The date is June 7 th 1776.

5.

Compose obituaries for FIVE important people who died during the

American Revolution- this could take the form of FARCEBOOK or another medium of your choosing.

6.

Prepare an account of the role of women in the American Revolution. You should present AT LEAST three case studies-this could be shared via Glog,

PowerPoint or Blendspace.

7.

Write an investigative report on the accomplishments of the Second

Continental Congress from May 1775-June 1776.

8.

Compile ten to fifteen political cartoons, illustrations or portrait paintings from the period 1754 thru the American Revolution. You must find artist, motivation to create said image, reaction from the colonists and British response to the rendering. This must be an actual analysis. You must also be prepared to explain these to the class. This could be shared in a Glog, PP and

Blendspace.

All presentations need to provide typed answers to the following questions:

1.

What views validated the French claim to the Ohio Valley and how reasonable do they seem to you?

2.

Dispute this statement: Pontiac is the greatest Native American military leader during the period of English settlement. If you support this statement, what did he do to deserve this reputation? If you do not support the statement, in what ways did he fall short of deserving this designation?

3.

Describe ways in which the French and Indian War helped prepare colonists for the American Revolution.

4.

Explain how the inter-colonial wars helped break down religious intolerance.

5.

Determine what connections there were between smuggling by New England merchants and the Writ of Assistance.

6.

Provide evidence for the statement that you strongly support: The American

Revolution was an inevitable result of British policies. Or. Colonists could have reacted in another way.

7.

In what ways did the inter-colonial wars prepare colonists for the

Revolution?

8.

With regard to the U.S. political system today, what would the framers of the

Constitution like and dislike, and what would surprise them?

9.

What parallels can be drawn between the American Revolution and the Civil

War?

10.

Descriptions of the events of the Boston Massacre were used as propaganda by both the Patriots and the Tories. Explain how each group may have presented its point of view to persuade people to join the party.

Presentations: Each pair or team will present so make sure that your group speaks about all parts including sources; you do not need to present your answers to the typed responses for question #s 1-10. One response set per team is all that is required.

Presentations will occur on the assigned day- if you are absent this is to your detriment and to the detriment of your partnership! Any missed presentations will be done after-school on Wednesday, 11/19.
