Weather Instruments Vocabulary
1. Rain Gauge- Gathers and measures rain over a period of time.
2. Anemometer- Measures wind speed. Derived from the Greek word anemos,
meaning wind.
3. Barometer- Measures atmospheric pressure. Usually used to predict the
weather or determine altitude.
4. Psychrometer- Measures relative humidity. It consists of two
thermometers mounted together with a handle attached on a chain. One
thermometer is ordinary. The other has a cloth wick over its bulb and
is called a wet-bulb thermometer.
