GPS:
Dirick ‘Richard’ HUGUNIN, son of David Huguanir (1758-1834) & Baata Huyck (17591800), was born 13 Nov 1793 at Kinderhook, Columbia, NY [source]. He died at
Johnstown, Rock, WI on 15 Dec 1863 [RCP 1746]. He married at Fonda, Montgomery Co,
NY, on 9 Feb 1815 Jannetje Van Epps [Fonda CR]. She was born in New York on 30 Jul
1794 [Fonda CR] and died at Johnstown, on 19 Dec 1878 [Wis VR, Obit: JG 30 Dec1878].
In 1809, the first Troop of Horse was formed in Lewis County under Capt. Levi Collins.
[Hough] It could have been with this cavalry that Richard Hugunin served from his
enlistment on Sept. 7, 1814 through his discharge on Nov. 5, 1814. For his service he
was awarded Bounty Lands #27532 – 160 – 55. [War of 1812 Pension File Index]. Jane
received a widow’s pension for her husband's service in the War of 1812. In 1872 she
hoped for an increase by a couple dollars so that she could get a flannel dress for her
winter clothing. Her death certificate states that she died of "old age" at 84 years 5
months. [Find A Grave Memorial #9380362]
Children: All born at Fonda, Montgomery County, New York.
