Project Description (Max 140 Words): Ideally we would like to convert all toilets on
campus to the dual-flush water saving mechanism, but as we have surveyed toilets and cost
per toilet, it would be too expensive. However we’ve decided what might be more
achievable is converting most of the toilets in the Seminar 2 building on campus to dual
flush and then to test how much water and money that will save.
Project Timeline: How long this project will take to carry out depends on funding and on
employees to do the physical labor. It may not be feasible for the amount of staff available to
convert the toilets.
Metrics: The success of this project will be measured by money saved on water bills, and by
water that doesn’t end up being processed through a treatment facility- in other words
water not wasted.
Describe the continuity of this project: The continuity of this project will depend on if
people using the dual flush toilets use them correctly, and if they do it should save the
school water and money and contribute to Evergreen’s goal of being carbon neutral. If the
toilets do end up saving the school water and money perhaps funding will be allotted to
convert more toilets to this system. Most of the newer buildings on campus have this water
saving apparatus installed and maybe one day all or most of the toilets will be converted.
