Two Tuesday Evenings in Dereham
Encounters with Jesus in the Holy Land.
Led by Canon Sally Theakston (693680) at Church House,
7.30pm – 9.00pm on two Tuesday evenings – 10th and 24th March
The Bible Study notes for this Lent Appeal have been specially
written by the Bishop of Norwich’s Staff. We will be looking at
two individuals who Jesus encountered during His Ministry. They
are:
1) 'The Samaritan Woman', 2) 'Bartimaeus'.
The other three studies of the series of five will be on Thursday
evenings in Gressenhall.
Wednesday Evenings in Swanton Morley
Encounters with Jesus in the Holy Land.
Led by the Revd. Adrian Aubrey-Jones (638378) at Swanton
Morley Vicarage, 7.30pm - 9pm, 25th February to 25th March
The Bible Study notes for this Lent Appeal have been specially
written by the Bishop of Norwich’s Staff. In this series, we will be
looking at five individuals who Jesus encountered during His
Ministry. They are:
1) 'The Samaritan Woman',2) 'Jairus, his daughter and a woman
with a haemorrhage',3) 'Bartimaeus'
4) 'The Syro-Phoenician Woman', & 5) 'Zacchaeus'
Wednesday Evenings in Dereham
‘In tune with heaven’ - a journey with hymns.
Two Lent Talks – Given by Gordon Barker (850538) at
Church House.
Talk One :‘Great hymn milestones of the past’. Wednesday 11th
March 7.30pm.
Talk Two :‘The modern awakening’. Wednesday 18th March
7.30pm.
Both evenings will include some modest vocal participation for all
who enjoy singing.This is not a compulsory element.
Thursday Afternoons in Beetley
‘Praise Him’ - Songs of Praise in the New Testament.’
Led by the Revd. Kenneth Pilgrim (861265) at Sunny Oak,
27 Fakenham Road, Beetley
2.30 - 4pm 26th February to 26th March. Including time for coffee,
cake and chat. Tea if preferred!
We will be using the York Course, ‘Praise Him - Songs of
Praise in the New Testament.’
This course explores five Songs of Praise - Gratitude, Image of
God, Humility, New birth and Word made Flesh; what they tell
us about God and Jesus, and reflecting on what they tell us about
ourselves and our faith.
Course booklets will be available at the first session - £3.49.
Thursday Afternoons in Dereham
‘Being Christian’.
Led by Lydia Crick (tel: 860093) and Adam Pyke (tel; 692743) at
Church House .
2:15 pm refreshments. 2.30-3:30 pm. 26th February and 12th to
26th March. (N.B. No Meeting 5th March)
A Study of the book Being Christian by Rowan Williams.
Books available, cost £3 approx
Three Thursday Evenings in Gressenhall
Encounters with Jesus in the Holy Land

Gressenhall 7.30pm – 9.00pm on three Thursday evenings – 5th,
12th, 26th March. Lifts to Gressenhall can be organised.

A Book for Lent
The Lent Factor: Forty Companions for the Forty Days
of Lent
The book written by Bishop Graham) describes forty very different
people - one for each day of Lent - who have a special quality
about them, and uses their stories to reflect on how faith and
character are connected. Please obtain your own copy of the
book.
Bishop Graham says, "The book features forty companions for
each of the forty days of Lent, all of whom are people (some long
dead) who have influenced me and helped to shape my Christian
discipleship. Each chapter begins with a Bible passage and then
some biographical detail depicting a characteristic of Christian
discipleship which has made its impact on me."
There will be a meeting led by the Revd Jane Nursey (697058) at
34 Allwood Avenue, Dereham on Wednesday 25th March at
7.30pm to discuss thoughts and reflections about the book.
