Outline Directions
For each chapter you read you are required to complete a chapter outline. Outlines should be written and
compiled in a spiral bound notebook – not a binder – to be kept throughout the year. Outlines will either be
checked in class or the notebook will be handed in to be graded.
Requirements:







Outlines should be in a spiral bound notebook labeled on front with name and class period
Outlines in notebook should be organized in order of the chapters – do not rip them out!
Each outline must be in pen or pencil – NOT TYPED- pen is recommended
All outlines should be AT LEAST 3 PAGES front to back – don’t skip lines
Include information found in chapter features – charts, maps, and primary sources, pictures’ captions, etc
Format should use section headings from the book to organize, with brief summaries describing each
section beneath it
At the end of an outline you should compile a list of the most important Vocabulary terms, names, events,
etc with their definitions. The vocabulary does NOT count in the three page minimum
