Once again, our Valentine’s celebration has been moved! It will now take place on 2/21
(1:10-1:50). If your child is handing out classroom valentines, please send them in backpacks on
Friday (we will exchange right before the party). Any parents who would like to join us are still
welcome to do so. Thank you so much for your flexibility
during this snowy winter!

As of right now, the 100 day of school will take place next Monday, 2/24. I will be
asking each student to bring in 100 small objects for counting and sorting during math time.
Please begin to think about what you would like to send your child to school with for this day
(crayons, paperclips, pasta, Q-tips, pennies, etc.) so everyone can participate.
Looking Ahead:
This week, we will discuss President’s Day in socialWe
studies. We will learn about compound words in
reading and will continue to research our nonfiction writing topics (attached is the list of our
classroom topics).
Last Week in Review:
Math: We read word problems carefully and
used their key words to decide if we should be
adding or subtracting.
Reading: We practiced reading words from
our word wall by writing them in sentences and
using stamps to spell them.
Writing: We wrote questions that we
wondered about our nonfiction topics and
collected information to find the answers
(using books and the internet).
Science: We finished up our unit on solids and
liquids.
Special Event: Miss Natalewicz’s sister, Miss
Jess, came in for a visit and read us a story!
Books We Read Last Week:

Dragon Dance by Joan Holub

I Want My Hat Back by Jon


