Why Learn French?

French is a world language spoken officially in 33 countries (second only to English
spoken in 54 countries) and is spoken by around 300 million people on five
continents.

French is the second most influential language in the world (after English). French is the official
working language in many international groups and organisations in the world, including the
International Olympic Committee, United Nations, World Health Organisation, World Trade
Organisation UNESCO, NATO, and the International Red Cross…to name a few.

French is the second most commonly taught second language in the world (after
English). French and English are the only languages taught in every country in the
world.

French is one of the easiest languages for English speakers to learn. French is the largest
donor of foreign words to English (around 30%) so learning French will greatly increase the
number of English words known and vice versa.

French is the international language of cooking, fashion, theatre, the visual arts, dance and
architecture. A knowledge of French offers access to great works of literature, as well as films
and songs, in their original language.

France is the world’s number-one tourist destination and attracts more than 70 million visitors
a year. Speaking the language makes travel so much easier and more enjoyable.

And lastly it’s just such a beautiful language. Learning French is the pleasure of learning a rich
and melodious language that many people just love to hear spoken!
About ‘La Petite Académie'
La Petite Académie has been teaching French in various schools for the past eight years. The teaching
staff at La Petite Académie are all experienced, enthusiastic, language teachers, with a passion for
French. We have developed strategies in teaching French as a foreign language which ensure the
uptake of the language is achieved as efficiently as possible. Our emphasis is on correctly spoken
Parisian French.
About the Course
The approach is fun and informal, yet structured enough to introduce a range of vocabulary, develop
good pronunciation, as well as taking a look at French culture. The major emphasis will be on
understanding the spoken language and communicating orally through the interactive use of games,
song, role-play and pair/group activities.
FOR ENROLMENT DETAILS PLEASE SEE BELOW

child’s interest early to avoid disappointment. Classes will be filled in the order enrolments are
received. Please note, however, that it may take some days to process enrolments and get back to
you. Once numbers exceed the limit, children will be placed on a waitlist.
