SPORTING NEWS
A fantastic start to a new
sporting season at Stanley
Grove was provided by
Laiba, Nicolas and Adam
on Tuesday this week, in
their first cross country
competition of the year.
STANLEY GROVE….CHAMPIONS AGAIN!….WELL DONE
to all our children who made our school the winners for
Longsight Library! A fantastic 48% of our children took part in
the challenge, by reading at least six books over the summer
holidays. Our prize for being the winners of the challenge is a
visit from the poet Dominic Berry. He is a spoken word poet,
and he will deliver workshops to classes across school, during
this term. Dominic has visited Stanley Grove 2 years ago
during the Booktrust ‘Easter Active’ events, and delivered
some very inspirational workshops to our Year 4 and 5 pupils.
**SCHOOL WILL BE CLOSING AT 1.15PM ON THURSDAY 24TH
SEPTEMBER TO MARK EID. IN THE MORNING,THE WHOLE SCHOOL
WILL BE ENJOYING AN EID PARTY WITH SPECIAL PARTY LUNCH. LOOK
OUT FOR THE LETTER GOING HOME WITH FURTHER DETAILS**
Laiba came 28th out of 91
girls. Out of the 130 boys
competing, Adam finished
44th and Nicolas finished
3rd! We couldn’t be more
proud, and look forward to
following them in their
journey to the finals!
A great turn out for the
football session after
school on Thursday too,
with more than 70 children
taking part in the fun!
Our Year 4 and Year 5
children have enjoyed their
library visits this week, and we
are really pleased that some
parents met them and
enjoyed the visit too. Look out
for a letter from your class
teacher which will let you
know the date of your child’s
class visit and come along if
you can!
Well done to all the children who came in on time this
week. School starts at 08.45am and the gates are
locked at 9am sharp. Don’t be late!
