PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Dear Parents,
We are excited to announce that on Thursday, September 10th, we
will be hosting our next parent engagement event called Meet &
Greet at the Park. The event will be held at Monterrey Park
located directly across the street from the campus. It will run from
5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. We will have fun activities and light snacks to
enjoy in the park. Most importantly, our Team & Family will be
present and looking forward to getting to know
the parents and families of our scholars. Please
save the date! We hope to see you there!

Attendance Matters!
That is why we make a big deal about attendance! Every child
inside of their homeroom class by 7:45 earns a Paw Point every
day. Scholars with perfect attendance all week earn 5 additional
Paw Points. And if a scholar has perfect attendance all quarter,
they will earn an additional 25 Paw Points. If you do the math,
scholars can earn more than 450 Paw Points just for coming to
school every day on time! We also have special incentives planned
to recognize scholars and their parents that have perfect
attendance. Every child that has perfect attendance during Quarter
1 (August 10th – October 8th) will be invited to attend our special
event, “Pancakes with your Parent.”
Each child with perfect attendance
can bring 2 adults to attend the event
with them. All scholars with perfect
attendance all year will not only get a
perfect attendance medal at the end
of the year, they will also be invited
to bring 2 adults with them to our
special event “Picnic with your Parent.” At this event, we will have
fun activities and food to celebrate. Thank you in advance for your
commitment to bring your child to school so we can teach them
every day!
ACADEMIC SPOTLIGHT
Parent Portal
All parents should have received a letter with a
specific access code to their child’s individual
profile on Kickboard. This profile allows you to see
your child’s current total Paw Points as well as the
last 5 additions or deductions of Paw Points along
with reasons why. After you have used the access
code to set up your account, you no longer need
the access code to enter your child’s profile. You
can access your child’s profile with the following
username and your chosen password.
Username: first initial + last name + -5q8
Example: Child’s Name: John Smith
jsmith-5q8

BEAR OPERATIONS
School Store
Our scholars have been rapidly accumulating Paw
Points for excellent academic performance and
behavior at IDEA MOPA. Students will have the
opportunity to cash in their Paw Points for goodies
every Friday morning from 7:10am-7:40am. We are
asking that children interested in cashing in their
Paw Points arrive prior to 7:30am in order to
ensure enough time to transition from the school
store to the classroom.

Drop Off/Pick Up
Faculty and staff report to their duty stations every
morning when school doors open at 7:10am. Please
be mindful that we do not guarantee adult
supervision outside the campus prior to this time.
Drop off is going smooth and we ask that you
continue to get your students here promptly so we
can begin instruction and take attendance at 7:45
am. Pick up has since significant decrease in times
compared to last year even adding two grade levels!
We ask that parents do not arrive any earlier than
3:10 pm as communicated to us by SAPD. This is
for the safety of all of our parents and so that
traffic doesn’t back up on to Commerce street.

CULTURE CORNER
Coffee with the Counselor
We will hold our monthly Coffee with the
Counselor event every third Thursday of the
month. It will be an excellent opportunity to get to
personally know Mr. Eleuterio Martinez III,
academic counselor at IDEA MOPA Academy, and
become connected to all the awesome events that
we have in store. Every monthly event will cover a
particular topic that our children and families
encounter on a daily basis.
