Faster mobile, faster recovery
Innovation in the medical market: New orthopedic aid relieves foot injuries and
optimally supports the healing process
INITATIVE
Initially no weight should be put on an acutely injured foot or one that has been operated on.
This severely restricts mobility for the patient and in some cases he/she may require crutches.
For the patient incorrect positioning or weight on the affected foot may lead to additional
doctor's visits, prolonged sick leave, or follow-up operations. This can happen - but should not
- and does not have to happen. Orthoscoot GmbH has developed a new and in principle
unique medical device: the foot relief walker "Orthoscoot NH1".
IDEA
The "Orthoscoot NH1" combines the benefits of a wheelchair, walker and scooter. The patient
kneels with the affected leg in an ergonomic tray. With the healthy leg, he pushes the "NH1"
forward. The knee support ensures optimal foot relief, while keeping the patient active and
mobile - especially over long distances and at home. Contrary to alternative aids such as
walking frames, wheelchairs, crutches or walkers the "Orthoscoot NH1" is much more
versatile, comfortable and much safer. It even integrates a custom-mounted holder for
crutches. When undertaking short or longer distances, the patient can easily fall back on these.
In doing so, the patient extends his/her action radius and thus his/her independence
considerably.
INDICATION
The "Orthoscoot NH1" was primarily developed for postoperative medical use - after an
accident or operation. Patients with rheumatism and diabetes are also convinced of the NH1's
features. It is however just as suitable for preoperative relief and helps with the actual
treatment or procedure. Indications for the use of "Orthoscoot NH1" are predominantly
severe soft-tissue injuries as well as fractures of the lower extremities and all forefoot and
ankle operations. Even with ongoing disabilities and diseases, such as chronic wound healing
deficiencies, it lends great support and gives the patient a high degree of mobility and
flexibility.
In the development of the "Orthoscoot NH1" personal well-being and patient comfort played
an important role. The "NH1" has a modern design and is therefore not only useful for medical
reasons, but gives patients self-confidence without requiring any help from third parties.
EFFECTIVENESS
"Most of our patients go back to work much sooner than with comparable disease processes
without the use of a foot relief walker," says company founder and CEO Andreas Hertle,
confirming "NH1"'s effectiveness. Thanks to the combination of an effective posture and
activity, the healing process is shorter and regeneration takes place optimally. Follow-up
treatments may be unnecessary as hospitalisation is shortened, and absence from work as
well as sick leave are reduced.
QUALITY
The Orthoscoot GmbH foot relief walker was developed in collaboration with leading
specialists to guarantee the greatest possible medical benefits of the product. Relevant
standards and tests were taken and certified by technical inspection organisations: DIN EN ISO
11199-2 and DIN EN 12182; | DIN EN ISO 13485, ISO 9001-93 / 42 / EEC | CE. The product can
be used safely for the recommended applications.
DISTRIBUTION
The "Orthoscoot NH1" is now available for purchase or can be rented on a weekly basis.
It is available from the manufacturer at www.orthoscoot.com. Deliveries are made via the
medical supplies trade.
At present several specialized clinics in Germany, Austria and Sweden provide their patients
with the foot relief walker. Other markets, such as the USA, Switzerland, Denmark and Holland
have followed.
