branch of your choice within Carver County for pick-up. Call 952-448-3886 to place a reservation or go
to carverlib.org/catalog if your card and PIN have already been entered into the Carver County Library
System.
The kits are allowed to go out for 6 weeks and cannot be renewed. They may be checked out of any
Carver County Library(Chanhassen, Chaska, Waconia, Norwood-Young America, Watertown) using your
own county’s library card, but must be returned to a Carver County Library.

When selecting games for your own kits , get a variety:









math-based
word-find- based
reading
Recall
Inference
multiple –choice
Imagination
Manipulation
shape identification all exercise different parts of the brain. The more senses involved in the
game, the more chance of clues received by the participant, and hopefully the greater the
chance of gaining mastery.
Other items that may be chosen for brain fitness exercises:
 attribute puzzles using color, shape, thickness and size (easy: “choose all blue pieces”
medium: “select all that are round, thin AND red” or harder: “eliminate everything that
has a right angle and is thin except if it is blue.”)
 include attribute card sets like Flinch, Old Maid or Uno (what is alike and what is
different from what I have? What is missing in this set/run and where is it?)
 Crossword puzzles
 Suduko, and similar problem-solving
