Important Housing Information for 2013-2014

J. Alvin will be renovated during the 2013-2014 academic year! Half of the building will be
remodeled during the fall semester and the other half will be remodeled during the spring
semester. Only 100 students will live in J. Alvin next year (normally 225 students). In order to
provide the necessary on-campus housing space the following room allocation will be used next
year:
Males
J. Alvin Brown Hall
Walker Hall
Hutcheson Hall (third and fourth floors)
Broadhurst Duplexes
Townhouses
Northslope Apartments

Northslope Apartments:
Males: There will be four 3-person apartments for males (one apartment will include an
RA). Three people will need to sign up together for these apartments and priority will be
determined by the average of roommates’ combined cumulative credit hours (not including this
semester). GPA is used as a tie-breaker.
Females: There will be four 3-person apartments for females as well as sixteen 4-person
apartments for females (three apartments will include an RA). Students need to sign-up as groups
and priority will be determined by the average of roommates’ combined cumulative credit hours
(not including this semester). GPA is used as a tie-breaker.
Townhouses:
Males: There are two 10-person houses, six 8-persons houses, and four 6-person houses.
Students need to sign-up as groups and priority will be determined by the average of roommates’
combined cumulative credit hours (not including this semester). GPA is used as a tie-breaker.
Females: There will be no available housing in the Townhouses for females.
Duplexes:
Males: There are eight 4-person duplexes and two 2-person duplexes (two duplexes will
include an RA). Students need to sign-up as groups and priority will be determined by the
average of roommates’ combined cumulative credit hours (not including this semester). GPA is
used as a tie-breaker.
Females: There will be no available housing in the duplexes for females.
Residence Halls:
All: find a roommate and determine if you will enter room draw or squat your current
room. Due to the J. Alvin renovation and reallocation in Hutcheson, squatting rights may be
impacted. Residence Life will work students to accommodate squatting and availability of rooms
for new students.
