KLEIN ENTERPRISES CELEBRATES 2013 SUCCESSES
Real estate development company broke ground on six projects from shopping centers to
residential rental properties
BALTIMORE – From a new Social Security Administration facility in Baltimore City to the
Marketplace in Fells Point, Baltimore real estate development company Klein
Enterprises had a successful year, breaking ground and/or working on six projects in
2013.
“At Klein Enterprises, we take a long-term approach to the communities we invest in,”
said Daniel Klein, president of Klein Enterprises. “The properties we’ve broken ground
on and completed this year are examples of just that.”
Klein Enterprises’ 2013 portfolio includes:
1. Social Security Administration – Baltimore City – In 2012, construction began on
the new 538,000-sq.-ft. two-building facility, which will house 1,600 employees.
To be completed early 2014, the transit-oriented, sustainable development is a
partnership with The JBG Cos. of Chevy Chase and features an array of
environmentally –friendly elements including a green roof and a park area. Both
companies are partners in the development and management of the property,
which is the largest single tenant lease ever signed in the history of Baltimore
City.
2. Walgreens – Charles Town, West Virginia – Completed this summer, the
Walgreens on Flowing Springs Way is 14,550 sq. ft. and situated by the main
entrance to the Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races.
3. Northwest Plaza – Baltimore City –SecurityPlus Federal Credit Union opened a
new location on November 25th. Klein Enterprises worked closely with
SecurityPlus to design and build the new 3,000-sq.-ft. branch in this preexisting
shopping center. The opening was projected to coincide with the opening of the
Social Security Administration facility.
4. The Townes at Mill Run – Owings Mills, Baltimore County - Scheduled to open in
January 2014, the 108-unit residential rental property features townhomes with
two- or three-bedroom floor plans, garages, granite counter tops and steel finish
appliances. The community provides amenities including a clubhouse, pergola,
fitness center, tot lot and more.
5. The Marketplace at Fells Point – Baltimore City – The east block of this
development featuring 160 one- and two-bedroom apartments and 28,000 sq.
ft. of street-level retail space is to be completed early 2014, while the west block
is scheduled to open summer 2014. This urban redevelopment is a partnership
between Klein Enterprises and The Dolben Company, Inc. and maintains the
fabric of the historic Fells Point by keeping the original facades of the buildings
on Broadway while providing modern amenities such as a game room, fitness
center, granite counter tops, and steel appliances.
6. Apartments at Charlestown Crossing – North East, Cecil County – Another
partnership between Klein Enterprises and The Dolben Company, Inc., this
residential rental property built and completed in 2013 features 330 apartments
and is an addition to the 256-acre mixed use PUD featuring single-family homes
and townhouses currently under development by Klein Enterprises and CT
Signature Homes.
In addition to the projects above, Klein Enterprises acquired Triangle Business Center, a
74,182-sq. ft. office park in southwest Baltimore, in 2013 and has continued to manage
renovations to Commerce Center in Pikesville, the retail and office complex Klein
Enterprises moved to in August of 2013.
“While we are certainly celebrating the incredible year we have had, we are moving full
speed ahead looking at projects for 2014, 2015 and beyond,” said Klein. “Already for
2014, we are projected to break ground on five projects totaling 700 apartments and
110,000-sq. ft. of retail space.”
