3. Supplement 167: X-Ray 3D Angiographic Informative Annex

The supplement 167 completed the First Review by WG-06 in April 2014. The supplement was
approved for Public Comment. Version sup167_PC.doc has been created. Comments are due by
June 12, 2014.

Members reviewed the final modifications and considered the possibility to plan a Tcon in July to
address the public comments before the WG-06 meeting in September. In case public comments need
a face-to-face review the Tcon will not take place, and the comments will be discussed during the
meeting in Erlangen. The decision of the Tcon will be taken after the collection of the comments by
June 12 (Action: Francisco Sureda).
4. XA Protocol Storage XA (new supplement)


At the WG-02 March meeting it was decided to prepare a White Paper with guidelines, use cases and
examples of a new supplement for XA Protocol Storage. This supplement will be developed
pursuant to DICOM Work Item 2006-04-E, and will be inspired on the mechanisms defined by the
Sup121 “Modality Procedure Plan and Protocol Storage” of CT.
Members started a draft supplement (X-Ray_Angiography_Protocol_Storage_V1.docx) to highlight
the use cases and applications related to the X-Ray Angiographic procedures, and to describe the set
of parameters and associated details of the protocols. It is planned to continue this supplement at the
next face-to-face meeting.
5. RDSR Implementation Guide for CR and/or DR



Members discussed the need to provide support for RDSR implementation for CR/DR modalities.
It was agreed to prepare a document to describe:
o the real-world scenarios of typical equipment configurations,
o the way the data becomes available at different places during the clinical workflow,
o the user needs in terms of reporting: e.g. repeat/reject analysis, data results etc…

Afterwards, members will provide guidelines to encode the RDSR object on the different scenarios,
including the templates to be used and the recommended values, as well as examples of encoding.
The format of such support material could be a DICOM supplement for an informative annex of Part
17. Members also discussed the possibility to create a White Paper instead of a supplement, to
provide a structure more adapted to an educational material, e.g. self-contained document available
directly from the DICOM web site, “less-constrained” style for non-DICOM readers, adding external
references to publications. Members will synchronize with the WG-29 (Education &
Communication) and will request guidance to create, communicate and maintain such White Paper.
6. Follow – Up Topics

Injector Record SR: Members followed up the progress of the WG-06 Contrast SR Ad-hoc group –
Supplement 164. To send the diagram of interventional workflow to the editor of Sup164.

X-Ray Angiography Application cases for the Multi-dimensional Presentation State: Members will
review the progress of the WG-11 on the Multi-Dimensional Presentation State – Supplement 156 to
check if it’s appropriate for projection XA. Comment will be eventualy sent to the editor of the Sup.

7. WG-28 Physics joint discussion





Annex AA of Part 17: Members created a new version of the revision document (see Annex AA
revision May 2014) including new possible changes.
A new CP will be created to update the annex AA of Part 17.
For topics related to tomosynthesis, members plan to organize a joint Tcon with WG28 and WG15.
New CP to clarify Organ Dose in Mammography: A new draft CP will be created to clarify the usage
of Organ Dose in all the mammography objects (projections, tomo and Dose SR) including Breast
Tomosynthesis. Owner: WG-28 (Action: Ioannis Sechopoulos). To follow up.
Patient Dose White Paper AAPM TG246: Members reviewed the progresses of the White Paper on
Patient Dose of the AAPM TG246 (Fluoroscopy) and the contribution of WG-02 members. The goal
is to have the White Paper ready for next Annual AAPM meeting in Austin.

8. Reports from liaisons with other groups and organizations


Heinz Blendinger, Annalisa Trianni and Francisco Sureda reported on the MITA X-Ray
Interventional activities related to the physics mode proposal.

radiation dose reporting.
9. New Work Items for WG-02

No new work item.
10. Planned Meeting Dates in 2014
Members continued defining the calendar for 2014 meetings.
 Possible Tcon in July. To be confirmed.
 September 29-30 (joint meeting with WG28) and October 1 in Erlangen. Confirmed
