Monday (12)
Testing in On Demand Writing until 11:00 am
1st , 2nd, 3rd and 6th periods – Students will use their foldable to color a rock diagram which includes
faults and folding. After identifying which rock layers are the same, students will order the rocks and
events from oldest to youngest by applying the six geologic principles outlined in their foldables.
5th period – students will read the following articles in “Choices” magazine: Teen Dad on p. 4, Autism
Speaks Out p. 10, and Oxycotin the Facts p. 14. After reading the article, students will participate in a
discussion of the articles.
Tuesday (13)
Learning Target: I can use geologic principles with rock strata diagrams to determine the relative ages of
rocks.
Students will review the six geologic principles on their foldables. Make sure all classes have completed
the foldable with examples. Students will also watch simulations to discuss the three types of
unconformities which they will define on their foldables. Students will then go through the questions at
the end of the SMART Lesson.
Wednesday (14)
Learning Target: I can use geologic principles with rock strata diagrams to determine the relative ages of
rocks.
Students will complete a practice handout in which they must use the correct geologic principle in order
to put rock layers in the correct sequence. We will complete the first problem as a large group. Then
students will be asked to attempt the second problem independently. After a few minutes, students
will partner up in order to compare responses. The students must compare answers and defend any
items that are different between partners. Share out with the class. Allow students to argue any items
they don’t agree on.
Thursday (15)
Students will complete What’s Up Worksheet (Science 10 Unit Six). Complete the first problem together
with students. After completing problem one, have students complete each of the other problems. As
students finish, have them partner up and compare answers. Students will discuss their answers with
one another and will discuss any differences in answers they have in order to reach a consensus. Finally,
we will discuss answers with the class as well as share the stratigraphic principles we had to use in order
to sequence the rock layers.
Friday (16)
Field Trip to Champs.
