CLASS TITLE: HIGHWAY SAFETY AND MOTOR VEHICLES PROGRAM MANAGER - SES
ALLOCATION FACTOR(S)
This is work serving as a full line assistant to a Bureau Chief within the Division of Driver Licenses or
Motor Vehicles; or managing the north or south command in the Bureau of Field Operations. The
employee(s) in position(s) allocated to this class exercise(s) independent judgment in formulating or
assisting in the formulation of policies and procedures which have significant impact in personnel
administration and/or preparation and administration of budgets.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

Participates in interdisciplinary group projects to identify and recommend policy or procedural
change.
Conducts monitoring visits to work locations throughout the agency to identify needed
improvements in methods or operations.
Communicates findings in group settings and negotiates recommendations as appropriate.
Prepares or contributes to detailed formal written reports to improve service delivery or
productivity of the agency's operations.
Collects and monitors data regarding productivity, workload increases and service demands.
Develops and maintains records indicating staffing allocation formulas and ratios.
Prepares formal written recommendations for specific staffing increases, reallocations or
reductions.
Researches and recommends equipment purchases or replacements to expedite productivity or
service delivery.
Monitors salary increases, new hires and terminations for impact on rate and salary allocations.
Researches and maintains information regarding available or needed management training.
Regularly schedules and attends training to maintain and enhance management performance.
Monitors performance of subordinate units to identify candidates for management training.

Recommends career development paths for subordinates seeking management careers by
identifying and recommending reassignments, demotions to positions in career tracks or
training opportunities.
Develops and monitors the bureau training plan to ensure adequate training for effective
service delivery.
Participates in division and agency planning for training and career development.
Directs, monitors and evaluates the performance of subordinates by establishing procedures,
monitoring criteria and standards.
Performs related work as required.
