JOB SPECIFICATION
1. KEY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Team Supervisor is responsible for managing workloads, quality assurance and continuous
improvement processes and for ensuring the provision of a high quality case management service to
offenders which complies with Enhanced Community Corrections Service Standards. The incumbent is
responsible for providing leadership and workplace supervision to all staff within a Community
Correctional Centre and promoting training, performance development and service excellence. The
Team Supervisor will provide high quality services to stakeholders and promote Community Corrections
positively and professionally to all staff. The Team Supervisor will contribute to operational planning and
ensure that all services are integrated with other key areas across Community Corrections.
2. KEY STAKEHOLDER INTERACTION
The Team Supervisor:
• Reports to the Area Manager.
• Supervises and manages a team of multi-disciplinary staff within a Community Correctional
Centre.
• Liaises closely with other Team Supervisors and may be a member of other local groups or
committees.
• Consults with other managers, community groups and government and non-government
agencies concerning departmental issues.
• Liaises with stakeholders involved with the case management of offenders including
SAPOL, Sentence Management Unit, Parole Board and Courts Administration Authority.
3. BRANCH PROFILE
Community Corrections is responsible for the case management of adult offenders placed on
community based orders and the provision of services to Courts, Sentence Management Unit and
the Parole Board in order to assist offenders to adopt a non-offending lifestyle.

Section 47 of the Public Sector Act 2009 applies in accordance with other provisions of the Act
and other applicable industrial entitlements.
The incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete a National Criminal History Check.
A current South Australian Driver's Licence is essential.
The incumbent will be required to work between the hours of 8.45 am - 5.00 pm Monday to
Friday.
It is expected that some out of hours work may be necessary for which time-off in lieu is available.
Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required which may necessitate overnight absences.

Responsible for assisting the Area Manager in the leadership and supervision of a Community
Correctional Centre by:

Providing expert and operational advice to the Area Manager on emerging concerns or trends in
offender management.
Actively promoting the role, purpose and value of community based services.
Investigating and reporting to the Area Manager on enquiries, complaints and breaches of
discipline or security; and other aspects of service delivery.
Contributing to regional policy development and review and collaborating with other Team
Supervisors in the development, implementation and review of operating procedures.
Applying detailed knowledge of agency strategic directions, service delivery and workforce issues,
and high level skills to achieve responsibilities of a complex and varied nature.
Gathering and interpreting operational data and information on the Operational Compliance
Framework.
Providing services which are efficient and effective and meet agreed business plan outcomes.
Contributing to the location's risk management focus, by exercising responsibility for incident
reporting and accident/incident investigation, ensuring all incidents are appropriately reported and
recorded in a timely manner.

Parole Guidelines and Service Standards and promoting evidence based case management
practices.
• Ensuring the provision of accurate, objective and comprehensive reports on adult offenders as
required by stakeholders.
• Ensuring offenders are referred appropriately to targeted rehabilitation programs and services
which are designed and delivered in a manner that is culturally appropriate and relevant.
• Liaising, negotiating and consulting with providers to facilitate programs and services and
promote the development of a wide range of targeted and cost effective services for the benefit

• Promoting multi-disciplinary collaboration and the development of cross-sector partnerships to

Desirable: Appropriate tertiary qualifications in community services, sociology, criminology, justice,
correctional practice, social sciences, human services, health or related field.

8.2 Desirable Criteria
• Detailed knowledge and understanding of the Criminal Justice System, relevant legislation,
departmental frameworks, contemporary offender and case management philosophies and
community based correctional programs.
• Strong knowledge of auditing and quality management processes.
• Experience working with stakeholders and other organisations to ensure the availability of
suitable programs and services for offenders.
• Experience in developing and implementing business plans, policies and procedures.
• General knowledge of personnel management principles under the Public Sector Act, Work Health
& Safety Act, and the Equal Opportunity Act.
• General knowledge of Correctional Services Department organisational structure and the South
Australian Justice portfolio.
