Senate By-Election - Call for nominations for one faculty member from the Faculty of Humanities
The UFV Senate is calling for nominations for one faculty member from the Faculty of Humanities to
serve the remainder of a three-year term on Senate, to July 31, 2015.
Nominations close Monday, September 30, 2013 at 4:00 pm.
Senate is the academic governing body at UFV, which is responsible for policies concerning academic
matters and advising the Board on policies of mutual interest. Senate business is conducted through its
standing committees, whose terms of reference are posted on the Senate website at
http://www.ufv.ca/senate/.
The Senate meets once each month at 2:30 pm on Friday of the second week in the UFV meeting
schedule. Meetings alternate between UFV campuses. Senate members are expected to represent the
Senate on at least one Senate standing committee. For further Information on membership and
responsibilities of Senate, please view the Senate by-laws, at http://www.ufv.ca/senate/.
If you are interested in holding an elected position on Senate, please review the election procedures
(http://www.ufv.ca/secretariat/election-procedures/) and complete the attached nomination form.
Please return the form to Lisa Tassone, Assistant to the University Secretary, Abbotsford campus B303
no later than 4:00 pm on Monday, September 30, 2013. If more than one nomination is received,
Senate will conduct an election.

Eligibility to serve on the UFV Senate
In accordance with the Senate bylaws, UFV Election procedures, and the University Act of BC, in order to
serve in an elected position as a faculty representative on Senate, the following criteria must be met:
a. Candidates must be a UFV faculty member of the Faculty that the position is to represent.
b. Candidates may not accept a nomination for more than one position on the same body.
c. Five nominators, who are entitled to vote in the election, are required. They must be faculty
members of the Faculty area the position is to represent. If nominators cannot be identified, the
nomination form will not be valid.
