Manitoba Council Girl Guide
Bursary for Full-Time Enrollment
Who is eligible for this bursary?
Any current member of Girl Guides in the province of Manitoba – who has been an active member for a minimum of two
years with plans for continuing membership in the organization.
What is the purpose of this bursary?
To financially assist active Manitoba members of Girl Guides in post secondary education at an accredited institute in the
province of Manitoba. (Exceptions will be made for courses and programs only offered in other Canadian provinces.)

Deadline for receipt of applications:
Must be received at the provincial office by August 31st (no exceptions). Original copies in black ink or typed.
Criteria:








minimum of 2 years active membership
recipient must continue membership in Guiding
applicants may reapply
must be enrolled in studies full-time (60% course load is considered full-time student status at the Universities
of Manitoba, Brandon and Winnipeg)
a copy of the letter of acceptance into the chosen program of study is required
Bursary is to assist in tuition costs only, books and equipment costs are not eligible
only course fee/tuition costs not covered by other agencies is eligible
members may only receive a bursary from Manitoba Council once per calendar year
Candidates will be evaluated in terms of the following:
 Guiding background
 letter from applicant describing what role Guiding plays in her life
 two confidential recommendations (one from a Guider and one from outside of Guiding)
 economical well being
 additional interest and activities
 service/volunteer involvement (inside and outside of Guiding)
Bursary will be funded by Manitoba Council from:
 interest from the Scholarship/Bursary fund
 donations
 Memorial donations
Funding level will be:
 50% of registration up to a maximum of $500.00

Please attach a short letter describing what role Guiding plays in your life.
Attach a copy of acceptance letter received from the institution for which you applied to the completed application
form. Please have both letters of recommendation sent to the provincial office in sealed envelopes listing your name
and title of the award being applied for.
Please note: The recipient must show proof of first payment and tuition payment schedule before bursary will be
presented.
