College of the Desert Scholarships
General

















Agatha Baxter Scholarship is awarded to full-time students who are permanent residents of
Riverside or San Bernardino County with financial need and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Alas Con Futuro Scholarship is awarded to current members of the Alas Con Futuro Club
and are enrolled in at least 6 semester units and, possess financial need and have a GPA of
2.5 or higher.
Anne E. Scholl Memorial Scholarship is for students enrolled in at least 6 semester units
with a GPA of 2.5 or higher and have financial need.
CCC Osher Scholarship Endowment requires students have at least 24 units completed, be
enrolled in at least 6 semester units and are BOG eligible.
COD 50th Anniversary Scholarship is for students enrolled in at least 6 semester units with
a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
COD Community Memorial Scholarship is for students enrolled in at least 6 semester units
with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
COD Faculty Women Scholarship is for students enrolled in at least 6 semester units with a
GPA of 2.5 or higher.
COD Founding Leaders Memorial Scholarship is for students enrolled in at least 6 semester
units with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
COD Student Memorial Scholarship is for students enrolled in at least 6 semester units with
a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Landon Family Scholarship is awarded to veterans.
Judy Roth Scholarship is open to students of all majors who are not Pell Grant eligible that
have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Students must be enrolled in at least 6 semester units.
Lenore Morris Scholarship is for students enrolled in at least 6 semester units with a GPA of
2.5 or higher.
Roy & Patricia Wilson Scholarship is for students enrolled in at least 6 semester units and
have completed 6 units. Students need to be enrolled in at least 6 semester units with
extracurricular activities and have a financial need.
Mrs. Nell M.H. Smith Scholarship is for students enrolled in at least 6 semester units with a
GPA of 2.5 or higher and is non-need.
Soroptimist International of Idyllwild Scholarship is for female students living in Idyllwild,
Pine Cove, Fern Valley, Mountain Center, Garner Valley, Poppet Flats, Twin Pines or Anza,
who are enrolled in at least 12 semester units with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Marianne Timmins Scholarship is for art, psychology and nursing majors enrolled in at least
6 semester units with a GPA of 2.5.
Thomas Walts Scholarship is for students enrolled in at least 6 semester units with a GPA of
2.5 or higher.

Athletic Scholarships



Donna McClain Physical Education Scholarship is for handicapped student, enrolled in their
second semester of Adaptive P.E. and is enrolled in at least 1 academic class.
Joseph Vierra Athletic Memorial Scholarship is for baseball or kinesiology majors with
financial need who are enrolled in at least 6 semester units with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Scalzo/Chapman Combined Athletic Scholarship is for cheerleader students enrolled in at
least 6 semester units with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Business, Economics, AJ and Culinary Arts Majors












Arnold Palmer Scholarship is for students that are in the Golf and Turf Grass Management
program and enrolled in at least 6 semester units who have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Culinary Arts Scholarship is for culinary arts majors that are enrolled in at least 6 semester
units with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Al Shoopman Culinary Arts is for culinary arts majors that are enrolled in at least 6 semester
units with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Meinert Scholarship is for students in the Golf of Turfgrass Management Program who are
enrolled in a minimum of 12 units and have to maintain a GPA of 3.2 or higher on a scale of
4.0 during the immediate past academic year.
Dick & Mary Codd Scholarship is for students majoring in business or hospitality
management with financial need.
Grace Schallies Memorial Scholarship is for female business majors who have not received
a B.A. degree. Students have had to complete 1 semester at COD, be enrolled in a minimum
of 12 units, have completed at least 12 units at COD and have a GPA of 2.95 or higher also
student must complete 24 units prior to receiving the scholarship. This scholarship is also
for students who have not previously received a Grace Schallies Memorial Scholarship.
John Arthur Scholarship is for economic majors enrolled in at least 6 units with a GPA of 2.5
or higher.
Russ Olden Culinary Arts Scholarship is for women residing in the Coachella Valley enrolled
in a minimum of 12 units and have a GPA of 3.0. Student must be a citizen of permanent
resident.
Lt. Thomas E Keenan Jr. Scholarship is for students enrolled in or has completed PSA POST
II.
Rose & Robert Rothstein Scholarship is for students who have completed PSA POST III with
a GPA of 3.0 higher and who have financial need.
Trendsetters Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association Scholarship is for
citizen of permanent resident women residing in the Coachella Valley. Students must be
enrolled in a minimum of 12 units with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Della Yodelis Scholarship is for Nursing, Architecture and Computer Science majors.

Math/Science Majors and MESA Students







Celeste Kawehelani Streutker Scholarship is awarded to students participating in the MESA
Program at COD.
Dick & Mary Codd Scholarship are for math or science majors with financial need.
Frank Bogert Memorial Scholarship is for geology or political science majors enrolled in a
minimum of 12 units with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Garden Club of the Desert Scholarship is for students majoring in horticulture, agriculture,
or environmental science with a GPA of 2.5 or higher with financial need.
Palms Garden Club Scholarship is for horticulture majors enrolled in at least 6 units with a
GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Scholarships are for students in
the STEM program that are enrolled in a minimum of 12 units. Students have to have a GPA
of 2.7 or higher in math and science courses and 2.5 overall. Student has to have a
successful completion or current registration in Intermediate Algebra course and have
financial need.
Sensational Hair Design Salon Scholarship is for women residing in the Coachella Valley.
Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester units with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Students need to be a citizen or permanent resident.
Music, English & French Majors






COD Memorial for Music Scholarship is for music majors enrolled in at least 6 semester
units with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Bruno Hirsch Memorial Scholarship is for students enrolled in the ESL program or studying
French.
Kathy Goff Scholarship is for music majors with a GPA of 2.5 or higher and enrolled in a
minimum of 12 semester units.
Kim Miltenberger Memorial Scholarship is for english and/or speech majors enrolled in at
least 6 semester units with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Peter Dykema Scholarship is for music major enrolled in at least 6 semester units with a
GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Stephen Simonsen Scholarship is for english majors enrolled in at least 6 units with a GPA
of 2.5 or higher.
Nursing Scholarships



Berger Foundation Scholarship is for students who are RN majors enrolled in at least 6
semester units with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Charlie & Idell Bannan Scholarship is for students who are RN majors with a GPA of 3.0 or
higher. Student must be a California resident and a US citizen.
COD Memorial for Nursing Scholarship is for nursing major (RN preferred) with a GPA of 2.5
or higher.

Coeta & Donald Barker Scholarship is for nursing program students and must be considered
by the Nursing faculty to embody the noble characteristics of service to others and
commitment to their profession. Student must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and have a
financial need.
Dick & Mary Codd Scholarship is for nursing majors with a financial need.
Edeltraud-McCarthy Nursing Scholarship is for single parents in the CNA, LVN and RN
programs with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Jack Greenberg Scholarship is for nursing majors with N1 completed, have financial need
and be a citizen.
Kern/O’Reilly Scholarship is for nursing majors with a GPA of 2.5 or higher and have
financial need.
LVN Scholarship is for LVN major with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Marich Scholarship is for students who are of Mexican heritage with a nursing major and
have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Nina Vairo Scholarship is for single mothers who have completed COD’s nursing assistant
course or is a certified nursing assistant and are enrolled in 3 or more units of the 6 general
education courses required for vocational nursing certificate with a GPA of 2.0 or higher
with financial need.
Palm Desert Women’s Club Scholarship is for students enrolled in the RN program with a
GPA of 3.0. Financial need is considered but not essential.
Rancho Mirage Women’s Club Scholarship is for continuing students who have completed
Nursing 2 who are in good academic standing.
Wolper Nursing Scholarship is open to students with Nursing majors
Transfer Students




Endowment for Student Transfer Success (ESTS) Scholarship is for students who are first
generation college students with a transfer goal established. Student must have a GPA of
2.5 or higher and enrolled in at least 6 units and have financial need.
Gail Brumwell Scholarship is for students transferring locally. Student must be enrolled in at
least 6 semester units, have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Joy Post Presidential Scholarship is open to students of all majors and transferring locally to
CSUSB-Palm Desert Campus. Student must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 units with a GPA
of 3.5 or higher and BOG eligible.
University Club of the Desert Scholarship is for students that is transferring locally who are
enrolled in a minimum of 12 units with a GPAS of 2.5 or higher.
Visual & Performing Art Majors


Nancy Bacon Scholarship is for visual art majors enrolled in at least 6 units with a 3.0 GPA
or higher.
Dumont Foundation Scholarship is awarded to visual art majors enrolled in a minimum of
12 units with a GPA of 3.5 or higher with financial need.

Joyce Norton Scholarship is for female visual art majors, (sculpture or multi-media), who
have completed 30 units and are enrolled in at least 6 semester units with a GPA of 3.0 or
higher.
Michelle Gaines Scholarship is for performing arts students enrolled in at least 9 semester
units with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Heritage Specific



Dr. Reynaldo Carreon Scholarship is awarded to students with Mexican heritage that is
enrolled in at least 6 semester units with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Jackie Story Scholarship is awarded to African American males who are enrolled in at least 6
semester units with a GPA of 2.5 or higher and with financial need.
Noris Paul Scholarship is awarded to students of African or Mexican heritage for all majors
enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester units with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Outside Scholarships






Bighorn Country Club Scholarship is a tuition reimbursement program for students enrolled
in at least 6 semester units who are employees or dependents of employees of Bighorn
Country Club.
Cardenas Markets Scholarship provides scholarship for students of Latino descent and
reside in the Coachella Valley. Student must be enrolled in at least 6 semester units and
have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Catholic Charities of America Scholarship is awarded for continuing students enrolled in a
“helping” profession. Students need to have completed 12 units, be enrolled in a minimum
of 12 semester units with a GPA of 2.5 or higher and have financial need.
La Quinta Arts Foundation Scholarship provides scholarships for Visual Arts majors who
have not received any other college degree. Students need to be taking art courses in
conjunction with general education requirements, must be a graduate from a local
Coachella Valley high school (or going to graduate high school from Coachella Valley), have
been a Coachella Valley resident for minimum of 5 years.
National Charity League Scholarship applicants must have a 3.0 GPA if enrolled in 8-11
units, 2.0 GPA if enrolled in a minimum of 12 units if applicant is a non-nursing student then
they must be enrolled in 12 units, 6 units enrollment required if nursing student.
Pathways to Success Scholarship is for residents of the Coachella Valley, have graduated
from a CA high school, have a 2.0 minimum GPA and demonstrate financial need. For more
