Rock Story
Due Date: 2/24/14
Objective: Students will create a story book, comic, or powerpoint to show the journey of a rock from
one landform to another.

 Must show at least 5 examples of weathering, 4 examples of erosion, and 1 example of
deposition along the rocks journey.
 Students need to state what landform their rock began in and what landform they became a
part of.
 Each event of WED the rock experiences must have an accompanying color illustration (at least
10 illustrations in the whole story)
 The story must have a cover page with illustration.
 Story must be detailed and exhibit good writing and embellishing techniques.
Example of ways to enrich the story:
o What caused each event for the rock?
o How the rock felt during the event?
o Names of locations where the events occurred?
o Descriptions of weather in various settings
Example of one page of the story:
It was just another day on Mount Everest and I had a wonderful view of the snow leopard cubs playing
and enjoying the afternoon. Due to the cold and harsh conditions of my home I very rarely have visitors,
however, yesterday a climber passed by and cracked my home with his ice axe. I was slightly concerned
because as the temperature rose this afternoon the crack started to fill with water. I knew this would
only lead to more trouble for my home, because as the temperature dropped this evening and the water
froze the crack would become larger.
