Before the Fair: o Come to the Professional Development Week o Have a well-written resume

___ Have your resume reviewed at Career Services

___ Make enough copies of your resume o Read “Interacting with employers at the career fair” handout. Pick it up at Career Services! o Create your “30 Second Pitch”

___ Include your major, focus, and career goals

___ Make it positive, accurate and authentic

___ Practice until it feels natural o Research participating employers and explore career options

___ Go to www.sonoma.edu/career for the list

___ Prioritize the employers you’re most interested in o Dress professionally and appropriately

___ Modest accessories

Day of the Fair : o Print & bring copies of resumes (20 depending how many employers you’re interested in) o Prepare written notes on employers that interest you and questions you may want to ask

___ Ask questions and take notes o Network and engage

___ Maintain eye contact

___ Smile and be polite o

Review the information and organize a list of employers you plan to visit o Ask the employer for business card

After the Fair : o Follow up o

___ Write thank you notes (A timely and professional email is appropriate)

Strategic follow up where appropriate (LinkedIn, email, phone call, etc.)

___ Connect on LinkedIn
