NIMiMS Symposium, Helsinki, 27-28 February 2015
Music and music studies: tonal issues and terminology
The two-day symposium, hosted by the Department of Musicology at the University of Helsinki, belongs to
a series of events of a newly founded international organization NIMiMS (Network for the Inclusion of
Music in Music Studies) [for further information, see http://nimims.net/]. The Helsinki event is focused on a
variety of perspectives in music analysis and music studies (mostly on Friday 27 February) and tonal issues
and terminology (mostly on Saturday 28 February). The speakers represent a wide range of music
institution and musical expertise from Finland and the United Kingdom: music analysis, music production,
composition and performance, all of these including the so-called classical, popular and jazz music. The
event is open to the public.
