PRESS RELEASE
Sinfonia Varsovia on the 25th Freedom
Anniversary!
4 June 2014, 11:30 a.m.
Royal Castle Square, Warsaw
The Włodek Pawlik Trio, the Polish Chamber Choir and Sinfonia Varsovia under the
direction of Marcin Nałęcz-Niesiołowski will perform at the main event celebrating the 25 th
anniversary of the first free elections in post-war Poland. The gala event will be attended
by many heads of state, and presidents Barack Obama and Bronisław Komorowski will
deliver special speeches to mark the occasion.
Invited by the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, the artists will perform
for leaders of more than 10 countries, including the presidents of Poland, United States,
Germany and France, as well as for many foreign guests and for the public gathered at the
Royal Castle Square.
The musicians will perform a symphonic-jazz suite titled “Wolność” [Freedom], composed
especially for the occasion by this year’s Grammy Award winner Włodek Pawlik.
Over the last quarter of the century, Sinfonia Varsovia artistically accompanied the
democratic changes taking place in Poland – from the concert for Prime Minister
Mazowiecki’s National Gift Foundation, through Solidarity of Arts, concerts in Warsaw and in
Brussels to celebrate Poland’s accession to the European Union and the Polish Presidency in
the EU to the concert celebrating the 25th anniversary of the first free elections in post-war
Poland.
