Who Can Participate?

Parents of children ages 4-10 and their children who have been overactive, inattentive, noncompliant, and/or aggressive for six months or longer.

How the Incredible Years Can Help

Providing parents with strategies to deal with children’s over-activity and behavior problems.

Building parents’ approaches for promoting children’s social and emotional competence at home and at school.

 Working with parents to develop coordinated plans for children to improve school readiness and academic success.

Preventing and treating children’s oppositional and aggressive behaviors.

Philosophy of the Incredible Years

Our efforts are directed at collaborating with parents to effectively change children’s behavior.

We teach proactive behavior management, as well as play interaction and communication skills that improve the quality of the parent-child relationship.

We also work directly with the children to teach appropriate social skills, emotional regulation, and problem solving skills.

Incredible Years Program for Parents

The evidence based treatment program includes 12 weekly sessions which give parents behavior management tools while also emphasizing relationship building with their child. The two hour group consists of no more than 16 mothers and fathers and takes place in a support group style environment.

Handling children’s misbehavior

Effective communication skills between adults and children

Anger management and emotion regulation

Supporting children’s education

Promoting social skills

What to Expect: The First Session

The program begins with an intake session which involves the following:
