Cartooning

Key drawing fundamentals coupled with a creatively charged atmosphere, are what our
10 weeks in cartooning has to offer. Students will bring their very own characters to life
through techniques based around body language, facial feature construction, and story
line creation. Students are given full creative freedom in building a world for their
cartoons, in this supportive environment where we'll share ideas and have a blast.
Week 1: Our first class will be spent getting to know each other and warming up with
some creative exercises. We'll also go through what we'll cover over the next 10
weeks.
Week 2: Students will learn how to draw the body of a superhero from the ground up.
Creating a wire frame then building on this. We'll learn how to draw the body in
proportion & bring it to life through movement.
Week 3: Building off of what we learned last week, we'll walk through how to draw the
face and all it's features. From here put together a complete superhero. Creating a hero
bio is the next step in order to personalize the student's individual creation.
Week 4: Students will learn some key drawing fundamentals such as 2 & 3 point
perspective as well as foreground, middleground, background in order to create an
environment for the hero.
Week 5: We switch gears this week and learn how to draw your traditional cartoon
characters using shapes, movement, and line direction to describe emotion.
Week 6: Combining some of the basic drawing techniques learned from weeks 1-4 with
further cartoon character design and environment building, we finish off the cartooning
portion of the course.
Weeks 6-9: Students will create their own comic book and/or comic strip
using the skills learned to date.
Week 10: Each student will receive a book containing everyone's final work. we'll take
some time to enjoy our final creations, along with some drinks & snacks.
Bring the gang to the art school to have your party. We supply the art supplies,
fantastic instructors and the space for your group to have a blast. Best of all,
