Dear Parents
YEAR 5 HILLTOP RESIDENTIAL: Wednesday 25th March to Friday 27th March
2015
Our trip is almost upon us – where has this term gone? We are all very excited! I
thought I would just send a final letter with a few reminders.
DROP OFF/PICK UP TIMES
Please can all children be dropped off outside the main doors of the school at
7.30am on Wednesday 25th March. There will be an opportunity for the children to
go to the toilet before they get on the bus. A ‘parentmail’ will be sent when we have
arrived and settled in. If there is internet access we will be updating Twitter and
perhaps we will try and get a few photos on there too, again!
We will return on Friday 27th March at 4.15pm. If we are going to be late or earlier
we will send a ‘parentmail’. We will be having lunch at Hilltop before we leave.
Things to remember
Please remember to include a ‘disposable’ packed lunch for your child on the day
of departure. There will be no lunch provided at Hilltop that day! They will take their
packed lunch on the bus with them.
Please could you provide them with a healthy snack that can be eaten when we stop
off on our journey to Hilltop.
Please do not bring anything electrical eg mobile phones, games consoles, ipods, cd
or dvd players. Please encourage the children to bring some activities to do whilst
on the bus journey eg top trumps, notepad and pens etc.
It is essential that your child has everything on the kit list. Should you require
another copy of this the office has a copy. Please ensure your child has enough
warm clothing as we will be outside most of the time!
Every child should have a sleeping bag (or a duvet) and a bottom sheet.
Please name EVERYTHING – even socks and pants!!! It is amazing what we find at
the end of a residential trip!
Remember plastic bags for wet/muddy kit!
Travel sickness
Thank you to those parents who have returned the travel sickness tablets and forms.
If you are a little concerned that your child may suffer from travel sickness can I
suggest that, on this occasion, you send them with travel sickness tablets? There is
nothing worse for a child to be feeling ill, on a long coach journey. We all want the
children to have a good start and end to their residential trip! You must inform us of
this prior to the day of departure as there is a form to complete. The office have
forms should you require one.
Rooms
They have all been allocated their rooms now and we are very happy that they will all
have at least one friend, which they nominated, in their room. The children will be
told who is in their room when we arrive at Hilltop.
Thank you for your support in returning forms on time and attending our meeting
about the trip. If you or your child become concerned about anything to do with the
trip please pop into the office to make an appointment to see me.
Regards
Mrs T Gourlay
