Art Capital Warsaw – International Art Fair 2016
The visual arts shall be a pillar of the agenda of the International Art Fair Warsaw – IAFwarsaw
2016. During the contemporary arts fair, planned to take place in April of next year, however,
artists from the world of fashion, photography and modern design will also abound; there will also
be numerous additional events, such as artist meetings, workshops and film screenings. The fair
will host exhibitors from Poland and abroad.
From the 7th (Thursday) until the 10th (Sunday) of April 2016, the National Stadium in Warsaw will
be home to showcases of several tens of exhibitors from various countries. The organisers wish for
the event to have a formula new to the Polish art market. – The idea of organising a fair, in course of
which both exhibitors from Poland, as well as abroad, would show their work in Warsaw came to life
in our minds already a few years ago – says Beata Roszkowska, general manager for IAFwarsaw. – We
know that the interest of the Polish people in contemporary art, both for aesthetic, as well as
business reasons, is increasing. Being aware that the art market simply is a part of the economy, we
invite not only galleries and artists to participate in the fair, but businessmen, collectors and curators
as well. We are primarily interested in creating an event, during which any art lover would find
something interesting for themselves.
The IAFwarsaw 2016 will last for four days. The first two days are dedicated to collectors, interior
designers, architects, and the fashion business in general. The two latter days, Saturday and Sunday,
will see the stadium being open to everyone curious of contemporary art. – We invite everyone to
visit the fair, irrespective of whether they have been art enthusiasts for long, or whether they are
only beginning to get to know the interesting world of visual arts, including photography, design and
fashion – says Beata Roszkowska.
The following, among others, have confirmed their presence at the fair: the galleries CONTINI ART.
and TAG FINE ARTS from Great Britain, the Nasui Collection & Gallery from Romania, the gallery
Dienstgebäude Art Space Zurich of Switzerland, the Belorussian A&V, the TSEKH gallery of Ukraine
and the ALLUDO ROOM GALLERY of Austria. IAFwarsaw will also see the participation of Polish
galleries, among them SOCATO, Galeria ESTA, BETA 16 and Shoot me.
It is worth noting that the fair space was designed by a famed architect duo: Marlena and Marek
Happach of H2 Happach. The IAFwarsaw is supported by cultural institutions, among them the BWA
Art exhibition agency of Tarnów, the Jan Tarasin art gallery of Kalisz, and the gallery Atlas Sztuki of
Łódź.
