Dear [Approving Manager],
I am writing to request your approval to attend the 2014 Hard Rock Mine Ventilation
conference taking place April 30th to May 2nd in Perth, WA. After viewing the event agenda,
it appears the summit would provide our organisation and me with a wealth of knowledge to
improve our understanding of mine ventilation.
Mining IQ’s Hard Rock Mine Ventilation will bring together all relevant specialists to
discuss the latest management strategies for Diesel Particulate Matter (DPM), effective
ventilation system design and development, and implementing important heat stress reduction
methods for machinery and staff.
In-depth discussions include:




The Diesel Exhaust Emissions Project (featuring Greg McCauley, Inspector of Mines
– OH&S at Department of Mines and Petroleum);
A case study on the construction & development of an underground mine in the East
Kimberley (featuring Lieb Combrinck, Specialist Engineer – Ventilation, Rio Tinto);
Reducing operational costs via ventilation on demand (featuring Allison Golsby,
CEO, ConsultMine) and;
A workshop on 10 ingredients for diesel management plans to keep emissions below
the new mandate of 0.1 mg per cubic metre (featuring Terry Siefken, Senior
Occupational Health Inspector, Department of Mines and Petroleum).
By attending this event, I can expect to learn about cost-effective ventilation design,
strategies to reduce DPM, how leading companies are developing new ways of improving
ventilation, and the impact of specific legislation on ventilation officers, engineers and
occupational hygienists.
At this point we have a chance for an “early-bird special” that will significantly lower the
price.
Afterwards, I’d like to review these materials with you and discuss how we can leverage
them into improving our operational capabilities. I would appreciate your approval by Date
HERE to take advantage of travel and pricing discounts.
Sincerely,
