ClimateQUAL survey follow-up: The ClimateQUAL survey committee plans to talk with LSSC for ideas of how to implement plans to address results from the survey. If any staff have ideas of changes or improvements you’d like to suggest, please let us know! You can email the committee at lssc@illinois.edu

, put a written comment (anonymous or not) in our comment box outside of the Library Human Resources Office, or submit an online commit (also either anonymous or not) using the following link: https://illinois.edu/fb/sec/120002

Meeting reports:

Area Studies: The Area Studies Division is working on updating their bylaws. A review of the

Division Chair’s recent performance is being completed. There is also discussion of including the Mortenson Center for International Library Studies as part of the Area Studies Division.

Physical Sciences & Engineering: The Physical Sciences & Engineering meeting focused mostly on a discussion of the upcoming University Library budget.

Special Collections: The Special Collections Division also discussed the Library budget. They are continuing to consider the elimination of user fees for scanning and copying, and how to implement that change. Scott Schwartz suggested that the Special Collections faculty and staff take a field trip to a personal museum/collection of antique cars and hats owned by a man in northeast Urbana.

Arts & Humanities: The Arts & Humanities Division continued to discuss whether to have the

Classics Librarian position continue to be combined with a Reference and Information Services position, as Mark Wardecker is currently performing those roles, or to combine the Classics

Librarian duties with duties in the Digital Humanities. Tom Teper visited the Division meeting to discuss a possible pilot project, during which a vendor would provide links to online materials, and if enough patrons clicked on a particular link, the Library would automatically purchase that digital material.

Residence Hall Libraries: Thank you to those who attended Residence Hall Libraries Open

House on June 10th! We’re always glad to see University Library Staff at the Ikenberry Library, which has the following summer hours: Mon. through Fri. from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. The six

Urbana Residence Hall Libraries are closed over summer break. Anyone with an I-Card can request materials from any of the Residence Hall Libraries over the summer, and we will retrieve them to be put on hold either at the Ikenberry Library or at any open U of I Library location. Patrons can also return Residence Hall Library materials to any U of I Library or I-

Share Library and they will get back to us.

There were no division meetings for Central Public Services, Social Sciences, or Technical

Services during the past month. The Administrative Council meeting and the Faculty Meeting are scheduled for the week of June 22 nd .

Upcoming LSSC Meetings: Dani will look into reserving our meeting room for the upcoming

Fiscal Year. She will be in contact with LSSC members about when and where we will meet starting in July.
