RDA or Resource Description and Access
is the “cataloging tool for the 21st century” Its
final draft has been released and submitted for
comments and discussions to all stakeholders
as early as 17 November 2008. The Library of
Congress and many national bibliographic
agencies,
national
libraries,
and
university/academic libraries abroad have
scheduled in 2013 for full implementation of
RDA in their respective libraries. While RDA
has steered so much discussion and debate
among librarians and information workers
abroad, the library community in the
Philippines seem not to have been affected by
it at all. Perhaps, some librarians and
information workers have heard about it but
they are not so keen to pursue interest in it
because it has not been implemented. IMSI
considers this seminar-workshop as an
opportune time to steer Filipino librarians to
take a look at this new development in
organizing resources in the digital world. This
seminar
workshop,
therefore,
offers
something that Filipino librarians can talk and
think about so that when RDA is implemented
finally they are ready for it.
Objectives
This seminar workshop aims to obtain the
following objectives:
1.
2.

developments in organization of
library

Provide background information on

8.
