Recommended Sanctions
Below is a list of common sanction guidelines. This is NOT a prescribed rubric, NOR should it be interpreted as exhaustive or
final. The hearing officer MAY DEVIATE from the guidelines below based upon the circumstances of the case and criteria that
may be considered. Each case is different and warrants individual attention.
FERPA: Parental Notifications will be made via letter to the students’ parents whenever the student is found to be in
violation of the university’s drug or alcohol policy and as permitted by law.

Good Neighbor Policy Violations*
The following shall be considered aggravating circumstances and result in increased sanctions: possession and/or use of drugs
(including marijuana); interference of police duties; failure to cooperate with police; conduct that results in arrest, transport to
the hospital either by the respondent or someone at the gathering, excessively large gatherings, and any other behavior at the
discretion of the hearing officer which brings into question the suitability of the respondent.
