Everyone is interested in the weather. Important social and economic decisions are
made based on climatic conditions. People have always maintained records about things
like temperature, rainfall and sunshine hours. Accurate climatic measurements are taken
at various locations around New Zealand.
You have been given a sample of climate measurements from 30 randomly selected
NIWA weather stations from New Zealand and Antarctica.
The data set provides the following data.

Ground frost days ( mean number per year )

Mean 10cm earth temperature

Sunshine hours ( mean number per year )
5
Mean daily global radiation ( Mj/sq. m.)
6
Mean daily maximum air temperature
7
Mean daily minimum air temperature

Rainfall mm ( mean amount per year )
9
Wet days – mean number of days per year with 1mm. or more of rain
10
Mean of 9am relative humidity ( % )

The data set provides information from 30 randomly selected locations in New Zealand
and Antarctica.
Data was collected during 1981-2010 period for locations having at least 5 complete
years.
