授業の目標 Course Objectives
Nuclear fission processes taking place in a nuclear reactor can be described mathematically by the Boltzmann neutron transport equation. The
nuclear reactor theory is a theoretical system for designing nuclear reactors and enables us to solve the transport equation with a limited
calculation resource of computers by introducing various and bold simplifications and approximations based on physical insights. The objectives
of the course are to learn a general theoretical outline of the nuclear reactor theory.
到達目標 Course Goals
The course goals are (1) to learn essential theoretical backbones (i.e., simplifications and approximations) supporting the nuclear reactor theory
through a derivation process of neutron diffusion equation form the Boltzmann neutron transport equation, (2) to learn numerical analysis methods
for solving the neutron diffusion equation, and (3) to enhance numerical analysis skills through developing self-made numerical analysis codes.
授業計画 Course Schedule
The contens of lectures are as follows;
1. Nuclear data and group constants in nuclear reactor analysis
2. Derivation of neutron diffusion equation and discretization method
3. Method for solving one energy group neutron diffusion equation by the Gauss-Seidel method
4. Method for solving multi-energy groups and multi-regions neutron diffusion equation
5. Nuclear fuel depletion calculation
6. Nuclear reactor kinetics analysis
準備学習(予習・復習)等の内容と分量 Homework
Three or four questions are given as assignments in every lecture. In addition, it is obliged to submit self-made numerical analysis codes for
neutron diffusion equations and nuclear reactor kinetics.
成績評価の基準と方法 Grading System
Mini examination is carried out in every lecture (A question is set among the assignments given in the previous lecture).
