Job purpose
The post-holder will provide subject-specific research expertise with regard to
the Horizon 2020-funded project ‘UNSETTLING REMEMBERING AND
SOCIAL COHESION IN TRANSNATIONAL EUROPE (UNREST)’. The
research activities undertaken by the post-holder will focus strongly on the role
of museums in shaping our understanding of past conflict, working within the
theoretical framework established by the project partners. The post-holder will
be responsible both for writing individual academic publications (articles) and
collaborating with project researchers on publications and other outputs. The
post-holder will also play an administrative role in supporting dissemination and
knowledge-exchange activities developed by the project consortium and in
organising workshops and conferences.
Source and nature of management provided
The post-holder will be line-managed by the lead member of the project
consortium based at Bath Prof Anna Bull.
Staff management responsibility
None.
Special conditions
The post-holder will be required to undertake periods of field research outside
the UK, primarily in Slovenia and Italy (especially at the Kobarid/Caporetto
Museum), as well as travelling to consortium meetings and other events within
the EU.

Undertake research into museums of conflict in Slovenia and other
European countries under the supervision of the members of the project
consortium located at University of Bath.
Take a lead in the experimental design and execution of the project. Collect
and analyse existing data related to the project using qualitative and/or
quantitative techniques.
Writing up results of research and contributing to publishing of results in
high-quality peer-reviewed academic literature.

Support members of the project consortium in facilitating knowledge
exchange and research dissemination.

Participate regularly in group project meetings and deliver presentations to
project team, internal and external stakeholders or funders and other
events as required.
Project management: e.g. timetabling and meeting project milestones;
participating in regular discussions with collaborative partners. Liaise with key
stakeholders/industrial partners.

Organising conferences and workshops as appropriate to the project’s
objectives.
Continually update knowledge and understanding in the field of specialism
to inform research activity.

Disseminate knowledge of research advances to inform departmental
teaching effort.

A Phd in subject area of direct relevance for the project,
(e.g. History, Museum Studies, Heritage Studies,
Genocide Studies).or an equivalent professional
qualification (and significant relevant experience where
