Heredity: the passage of genetic instruction from one generation to the next
generation
Trait: a characteristic that can be passed from parents to offspring
Genetics: the scientific study of heredity
Dominant allele: an allele whose trait always shows up
Recessive allele: an allele whose trait can be hidden
Phenotype: an organism’s physical appearance
Genotype: an organism’s genetic makeup or allele combinations
Homozygous: an organism that has 2 identical alleles for a trait (ex. RR or rr)
Heterozygous: an organism that has 2 different alleles for a trait (ex. Rr)
