In the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
C
Amen
P
Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no
secrets are hid: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy
Spirit, that we may perfectly love you and worthily magnify your holy name,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
C

Please kneel a time of silent relection follows
P
Most merciful God,
C
We confess that we are captive to sin and cannot free ourselves. We have
sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and
what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we
have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of your Son, Jesus
Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may
delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name.
Amen
P
C
Almighty God, in His mercy, has given His Son to die for us and for His sake God
Forgives us all of our sins. As a called and ordained Minister of the Church of
Jesus Christ and by His authority, I therefore declare to each of you the entire
forgiveness of all your sins, in the name of the Father, + and of the Son and of the
Holy Spirit.
Amen

C
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord.
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will cometo judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen

A RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS GIVES
US JOY, VALUE, DIRECTION, HOPE,
AND PURPOSE.
Jesus said, “Come to Me…and I will give you
rest” (Matthew 11:28). He invites us, “Follow
Me, and I will make you fishers of men”
(Matthew 4:19). Jesus abides with us (John
15:4).

It can be said, “Most of what we learn is caught and not taught.” In order to
catch something, we must come into close proximity—into relationship.
God wants us to build relationships with Him through Jesus. There is no
greater joy than a close relationship with Jesus. God also wants us to
develop relationships with others, and our relationship with Jesus empowers
us to be faithful stewards of those relationships. With the help of the Holy
Spirit, we are to love others as we love ourselves (Matthew 22:39).

If you or someone you know from the congregation is in the
hospital or is at home and sick and needs a visit from Pastor Bill,

is only told by the hospital when a person is a patient if they ask
for the church to be notified.

Announcements
WARNING: Do not dial area codes 809, 284 or 876!!!! It is a scam!
They may say it is related to a sick relative, that you have won a prize
etc. But in each case, when you dial the number that starts with one of
these area codes you are charged $2,425.00 a minute. The call goes to
the Dominican Republic and since you did in fact place the call getting it
taken off your bill is not easy if even possible.
Blanket Drive – will Continue until further notice so please bring in
your new or gently used blankets to be donated to those in need.
Please place blankets in the bin in the narthex.
One of the ministries that happen from my office that goes largely
unspoken is my use of the Pastor’s Discretionary Fund. This year I
have drawn upon those funds to help more than a couple families, both
from our congregation and those from the community, who are in need
of some financial help due to loss of work, medical, or other emergency
issues. This fund is slowly becoming depleted and in need of your gifts
to help support this ministry. Right now there is less than $1000.00 in
the fund. If you would like to make a donation to this fund to help
those from our congregation and others in emergency need, please
speak with me. All gifts to this fund and from this fund are kept strictly
confidential.
Supporting our own members – Each year we, as a church collect
various things to help others. We collect blankets, we have the angel
tree, mitten tree, etc. which all goes into the community which is a good
thing. A couple times a year we collect food and our last food drive was
very successful. The food was divided among three families, one in the
community and two from our congregation. This made us realize that
we do have some of our own members who could use support through
rough times from time to time. So we decided to collect change and
food items throughout the year for our own members. When enough
change is collected, a gift card will be bought and then given to a
member who is in need. The food will be collected until a need arises. If
you are in need or know of one of our members who is struggling and
could use this help please let Kellie or Pastor know. This information is
strictly confidential.
Souper Bowl of Caring – this year we will use the money/food
collected to support our new mission or “supporting our own members”.
If you know anyone in the congregation who is struggling please let
Kellie know.
The 2012 Flower book pages are now in the notebook on the Ushers
station.
The 2012 Head Usher sign-up sheet is in the Narthex on the Ushers
station. Please sign up early to get your desired month. Your
willingness to serve in this capacity is greatly appreciated!
Celebrating the gift of marriage: On February 12th, we at Prince of
Peace, will celebrate the gift of marriage by having a renewal of
marriage vows during worship for all couples from Prince of Peace who
would like to take part in this event. A "reception" will follow the
service that day. This event is part of our 50th anniversary
celebration. More information will follow
Altar Care – there has been some interest from some of the newer
members to assist with Altar Care. Pam and Ginger (if you don’t know
who they are just ask the Pastor) would love to have the help. Please
see one of them to sign up to help someone already scheduled for Altar
Care so you can learn on the job! This ministry is very important and
welcomes all those who want to help.

1962-2012
50 Anniversary
th
Living, Learning and Growing in the Word of God
50 Years of Ministry – On November 25, 2012, Prince of Peace will
celebrate 50 years of Ministry. The First services were on June 3, 1962 and
the Congregation was officially formed on November 25, 1962. For 50
years, we have served the people of Lawson Heights, Latrobe, Unity
Township and the Synods of Southwestern PA. The committee would like to
plan a special event for each month of the year, so this does not have to be
a year-long commitment. If you would like to be involved for a certain
month, or have an idea you would like to share, contact Vickie Onusko,
Shirley Kelley, Pam Yuhaniak, or Pastor Bill.

The anniversary committee is looking for photos, movies, slides,
programs, or any items that would help to archive the history of
Prince of Peace. We would like to make a digital "movie" to put
onto our web site, and would also like to use these items for our
monthly celebrations starting in January. If you have something
we could use, please get it to Pastor or to Kellie in the office. if
you would like it back, please mark it with your name and phone
number so we can return it when we are finished.

For the Anniversary celebration, Sue Tschupp has
undertaken a huge project. She has researched our 50
year history and has recorded important events on a
monthly calendar which is on display in the Narthex.
Although she has gone to Florida she requests that if you
have additions/changes/corrections to the calendar that
you please write them down and give them to Kellie. Sue
will update the calendar when she returns. She has spent
a lot of time and has a system of her own so please do not
write on the actual calendar. Thanks
