A Resolution
In Support of Mandating Student Emails

Whereas, the Associated Students of the University of Nevada have a vested interest in creating a
central source of communication between students and the university;

Whereas, the student emails act as a normal gmail.com account;
4
Whereas, this allows for more than just an email service as it also allows students to utilize all of
5
the features that Google has to offer;

Whereas, the email account can be operated by current students and alumni for life;

Whereas, there is a plethora of student discounts available by just registering with your
8
nevada.unr.edu email account;

Whereas, this allows for a centralized way for the university to communicate with students and
alumni;
Whereas, if a student doesn’t want to use the nevada.unr.edu email, they can link school
announcements to their normal email address;
Be it resolved that, the Associated Students of the University of Nevada are in support of
mandating nevada.unr.edu emails to incoming students.
Be it further resolved that, a copy of this resolution be sent to Chief Information Officer, Huapei
Chen.
