Analytical Services Group – Laboratory Technician

Profile of Role

Oxford BioMedica’s Analytical Services Group is being expanded to support an increasing company portfolio and is seeking a laboratory technician to join the group. The team is performing validated assays associated with Investigational Medicinal Products (IMPs) for use in clinical trials, QC and release & stability testing according to predefined written procedures.

A highly motivated and independent individual is sought to work within this team. The successful candidate will:

─ Perform routine monitoring of fridges, freezers and incubators, and emptying of waste in ASG laboratory areas

─ Temperature monitoring device management (managing recalibration, downloading data etc).

─ Laboratory and equipment cleaning including cleaning safety cabinets, incubators and water baths in ASG laboratory areas

─ Stock/consumable checking for items/reagents used in key assays

─ Perform routine maintenance of key equipment; spectrophotometer monthly checks, DNA extraction instrumentation, Real-time PCR instrumentation monthly checks and 6 monthly calibration and verification, Incubator temperature mapping, plate reader calibration and verification

─ Assisting with logging-in samples and the reconciliation and disposal of samples

─ Assist with investigations and audit preparation when required

─ Cell culture; maintenance of cell line for communal use and preparing tissue culture media, reagents and reference materials

─ Accompanying engineers for servicing/repairs. Filing service reports in equipment files.

Skills/Knowledge/Qualifications

─ Educated to Diploma level in a science subject or equivalent but as a minimum educated to GCSE/A level (in a science subject) or equivalent qualification level or experience gained within a similar work place and position.

─ Previous laboratory experience desirable, preferably within an industrial setting.

─ Previous experience working within a GxP environment

─ Ability to work well in a team
