PRESS RELEASE
EPOS Group strengthens position in bakery sector with acquisition of RSA Systems Ltd
Second bakery sector purchase adds 400 more retail sites to POS specialist's customer base
APRIL 5, 2013, RAMSGATE, KENT -- EPOS Group has acquired Blackburn, Lancashire-based
bakery point-of-sale and software specialist RSA Systems Ltd.
The purchase of RSA Systems strengthens EPOS Group's position in the British bakery retail market
and is its second acquisition in this sector. In 2009, it bought Hampshire-based bakery POS provider
WeCan solutions.
RSA is well-known for its Daybreak system which consists of three products: a point-of-sale
application, Touch Till, a back office solution, Shop Controller, and an associated module for bakery
production. It has around 50 customers across the UK with installations in approximately 400 sites.
Users include bakers, confectioners, tea rooms, coffee houses, sandwich bars and jiffy van operators.
Although the Touch Till and Shop Controller elements of Daybreak will be supported for some time,
EPOS Group is offering customers subsidised upgrades to its own up-to-the-minute and wellestablished Quantum EPOS system. There will be no further development work to any other parts of
Daybreak. Daybreak's production module will no longer be supported after August, 2013. EPOS
Group will instead provide users with an upgrade path to CyBake, the popular management system
from its bakery technology partner RedBlack Software.
Under the terms of the deal, RSA technical specialist Jonathan Measures has joined EPOS Group's
support team. His father, RSA's former managing director Jon Measures, will continue a close
relationship to EPOS Group on a consultancy basis.
Former RSA managing director Jon Measures says: "It's business as usual for our customers. We're
really pleased to have moved RSA onto its next era as part of the larger EPOS Group. EPOS Group
shares our dedication to providing customers with really good service and well-designed till solutions."
Stephen Boyes, managing director of Ramsgate-headquartered EPOS Group says: "The addition of
RSA to the EPOS Group team will add a wealth of experience and industry knowledge to the very
strong technical base we have established in recent years. RSA is a very respected company and we
are really pleased to have been able to secure such a good arrangement for all parties."
Boyes adds: "With our second acquisition in this sector and our recently formed technology
partnership with RedBlack Software, we believe that EPOS Group is now the dominant force in the
British bakery market."
