This unit is designed to provide
cross-curricular links, and show how
lack of religious and cultural
tolerance and understanding can
have devastating consequences. It is
the starting point for the GCSE topic
in the final term.
Elements include:
 Nuremberg Laws and antiSemitism
 The ghetto: conditions, how it
affected Jewish family life, and
case studies of those that were
there
 The Death and Concentration
Camps
 Survivors of the Holocaust
 Effects on religion and belief in
God
 The extent to which these things
could and do happen again
Pupils begin the GCSE curriculum
with a module “Believing in God”.
This module utilises the work done
on formulating arguments and
analytical skills throughout Key Stage
3. It does not presuppose a belief in
God, but allows pupils to explain and
give reasons for their own opinions,
and the opinions of others.
Elements Include:

apparent design in the world
around us and ideas of cause
could lead to a belief in God
