During summer 2009, Cedars Park was surveyed as part of an ecological audit of LDF
sites commissioned by Mid Suffolk District Council. The survey work highlighted the
importance of this site for wildlife and that the fact that it may meet the criteria to be a
County Wildlife Site (CWS).
The results of survey work were presented for consideration at the Annual Suffolk
CWS Panel Meeting (8th Dec 2009) and when assessed against CWS selection
criteria, showed the site to be of CWS standard.
We are therefore pleased to confirm that the above-mentioned site is to be included in
the Suffolk County Wildlife Site (CWS) Register. A copy of the CWS register entry is
included with this letter for your information.
Designation as a CWS is recognition of a site’s current importance for wildlife.
All CWS biological data is collated on to a computerised database held by the Suffolk
Biological Records Centre. This information may subsequently be used for nature
conservation, research and education and will be available as appropriate for public
consultation.
We have included have included a leaflet entitled ‘Suffolk County Wildlife Sites’
which provides further information on CWSs and contacts for advice. Further
information can also be found at;
http://www.suffolk.gov.uk/Environment/Biodiversity/CountyWildlifeSites.htm
If you require any further information regarding the designation of the CWS, please
contact a member of the County Wildlife Site Panel.
Yours sincerely
