1. In class, when were students most alert and participating most actively?
They were most alert after they warmed up and started lifting.
What percent of the time would you say they were on task?
25%
Off task75%
2. How did students respond to teacher’s instructions?
Poorly; they weren't participating to their full potential.
3. What forms of peer interaction did you observe?
They all got along just fine. There were a couple students that looked a little left out, but there was not any
arguing or conflicts.
4. What are the students wearing? What do you notice about their appearance?
T-shirts, shorts, and tennis shoes; their appearance was what I expected. I didn't notice anything unusual.
5. What sort of things seemed to motivate them – what did they do or talk about with enthusiasm?
Whenever the teacher yelled something, they seemed to try a little harder. With the heavier lifts, the boys
seemed to be more excited and willing to work harder than with the littler lifts that have the same amount
of importance.
6. What do you see as their greatest strength at this age?
They are capable of doing more with more intensity.
7. What would be the greatest challenge they would present to you as their teacher?
Lack of motivation.
8. Sum up your reflections on this experience and think of the possibility of your teaching students at this
age. Be honest with yourself. How do you see your personality/character traits working with this age group?
Why do you feel this way? If you WERE going to teach this group, what things would you set as goals for
yourself?
I feel like I wouldn't have as great of an affect on this age group, because of their attitudes, immaturity, and
hormones. I expect immaturity at the elementary level, but it drives me crazy at the high school level. If I
was going to teach this group, however, I would make sure they knew I was in charge. They need to know
that if I do not see the effort, their grade will be affected. I wouldn't want them to slack off during an
exercise class and get away with that. My most important goal would be that by the end of the year, they
will be stronger and more confident with themselves. I would hope that they would continue lifting and

exercising for the rest of their lives. I would want to have a positive impact on them, even if they don't like it
at the time.
