ASSE Cascade Chapter Executive Team Minutes
July 17, 2007 – 10:30-11:15am – Sizzler Restaurant, Gateway St., Springfield

Gary Hyatt with Northwest Natural Gas, "Natural Gas Safety", Incident rates, what they are and
how to use them.
OLD BUSINESS
a) Dave Bogart will update web site & post link fee rate schedule & send email to those most likely
prospects. - This has been tabled until September 2007. Steve Bridges will forward guidelines provided
by ASSE national.
b) Sharon Pleu will contact ASSE National Officer Central Jill Burgos 847-699-2929 x-3440
jburgos@asse.org at National ASSE for the Non-Profit Status certification.
c) Officers and members are encouraged to bring door prizes for the General Meeting.
d) Starting in September 2007 the monthly General Meeting will be held on the 3rd Tuesday of each
month with the Executive Team Meeting held before from 10:30-11:30. The Sizzler Restaurant Manager
has scheduled us for that block for the next year.
e) Elizabeth Bartleson drafted a membership promotion letter and presented for review and approval at
the June meting. Steve Bridges will get mailing list data from Marilyn Dye then email officers with
proposal by 7/1/7 for email & snail mail to local businesses, SAIF, OR-OSHA, Liberty Insurance, etc.
f) Duane Grange reported that House Bill 222 has been passed and is going through the House of
Representatives.
g) Mary Lou will discuss ROC 1 plans for state governmental affairs committees with Dave Bogart.
h) Duane Grange will write a hold harmless statement for inclusion in the Chapter By-Laws.
i) Installation of new officers is effective 7/1/7.
NEW BUSINESS
a) Mary Lou and Duane Grange are going to attend the 2007 ASSE leadership development conference.
This is roughly a $1200 cost to the chapter. The executive committee unanimously voted to send both
the president and the vice president to this conference.
b) Mary Lou finished the draft By-Laws and submitted them to the executive committee for review.
Having received no comments, Mary Lou will submit the By-Laws to Terry Norris, the ASSE Regional Vice
President by 7/20/7. The chapter has now adopted the draft By-Laws.
c) Dave Bogart & Wesley Dukes have designed a brochure and flyer for the upcoming Safety
Management Systems program, they need feedback on this material. Email feedback to Wesley by 7/20,
to wdukes@dwbogart.com. The membership is requested to assist in marketing this series around the
community. The finalized flyer and brochure will be available on the website and through the executive
committee.
d) The Safety Management Series is being offered at the Cascade Conference in addition to the monthly
meetings. Is this all ten modules? How much time is needed for this? Mary Lou will ask Dave Bogart for
details so that this can be incorporated into the conference planning and marketing of the Safety
Management Series.
e) The Safety Management Series is going to requires speakers for each session. The program chair will
head this effort, with support from the executive committee.
f) Dave Bogart and Wesley Dukes are designing a system to allow for tracking of participation in the
Safety Management Series, to allow for awarding of certificates to persons who have completed the
series.
g) Wesley will build a WebServe Email Community where people can get information & connect with
other in the chapter for information.
h) Steve Bridges to print new Meeting Free Lunch passes for the 3rd Tuesday of each month.
EXECUTIVE TEAM LEADERSHIP/TEAM BUILDING WORKSHOP
a) The executive team attended a leadership and team building workshop taught by Larry Dennis, Sr.
Thanks to Mary Lou for all your hard work putting that together.

a) Tell your friends and associates about the Safety Management System Elements Program.
b) Be sure to greet and meet new attendees at the general meetings.

a) Conference Planning Committee Meeting Tues., 8/21/7, 8:30-10:30 Monaco Coach
b) Executive Team Meeting Tues., 8/21/7, 10:30-12:00, Monaco Coach
c) All future General Meetings will be on the 3rd Tuesday of each month beginning September 18, 2007
from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and will involved the Kickoff & Implementation of The Safety Management
System Elements Program.
