Welcome! Congratulations on taking the steps to becoming a healthier & more balanced you. I look
forward to working with you in your pursuit of better health. The health history intake form you completed
today, along with the intake, pulse diagnosis, tongue diagnosis & muscle test diagnosis, all help to
understand exactly what imbalances your body is experiencing and what steps we need to take to correct
that imbalance. I say “we” because as with every type of treatment you play an integral part in the healing
process, as it is your body that is doing the healing.
Traditional Chinese Medicine may include acupuncture, clinical nutrition, whole food supplements, herbal
supplements, cupping, gua sha, electrical stimulation, moxa, cold laser, and other techniques. However,
because lifestyle and nutrition play such an important role in the process of treatment and healing, there
will be suggestions made for you to incorporate outside of the treatment room as well.
Acupuncture is a process, not a procedure! Acupuncture is gentle, safe, and gradual; it works to stimulate
the body’s own self-healing mechanism. If you don’t come often enough or long enough acupuncture might
not work well for you. Other factors that can influence the success and initial length of treatment are the
severity and duration of your condition, your age, overall health, other medical conditions, nutrition,
medications, and recreational habits. Plan on a series of treatments, typically once a week for 6-12 weeks to
really evaluate your progress with acupuncture, as your body heals and your symptoms decrease your visits
will become less frequent. Maintenance visits are strongly suggested as you need to stay healthy.
**The most common side effects of acupuncture may be slight bruising or bleeding. After cupping or gua sha
you may experience redness, soreness, or bruising. If you have any concern please ALWAYS contact me.
Clinical Nutrition is done by performing a nutritional exam using a System Survey and kinesiology muscle
testing, to get an understanding of your overall health, we will then recommend nutritional changes and
whole food nutritional and herbal supplements that will empower your body with the necessary nutrients
needed for the healing process to occur and put you on the road to optimal health. We do not diagnose or
treat diseases, rather we analyze your current health status and use nutrition to help relieve your symptoms
and address the root cause of those symptoms.
Clinical nutrition is a process, not a procedure! Standard Process is a whole food supplement company.
Their products are generally safe for everyone, including children, pregnant and nursing women, gluten
sensitive people, and those currently taking other synthetic supplements/medications. They should not
cause any side effects because they are not chemical, synthetic, or drugs. If you do not keep your
appointments, fill out your food log, or take your supplements, clinical nutrition might not work well for you.
Frequency of treatment is determined on an individual basis; it could be weekly, monthly or seasonal.
Good health is the best health insurance there is, here are some tips to maintain optimal health…
1) Eat whole food & drink water – Your body needs a whole food diet, full of vegetables, lean proteins,
good fats, some fruit, limited grains, and at least ½ your body weight in ounces of filtered water.
2) Breathe deeply – Breathe from your abdomen, allowing your stomach to expand and contract, start
with 10 minutes in the morning and in the night, but ideally you should do this all day!
3) Get daily exercise – Get at least 30 minutes of EXTRA movement a day, and don’t forget to stretch!
4) Get plenty of rest – Getting 6 to 8 hours of sleep is important to a healthy lifestyle and rejuvenation.
5) Have daily relaxation – Stress is the cause of a lot of different diseases so take 10-20 minutes a day to
take a bath, read, listen to music, meditate, keep a journal, or walk to clear your mind and to be present.
6) BONUS: Take whole food supplement – Standard Process Catalyn (multi-vitamin), Trace Mineral B12
(multi-mineral), ProSynbiotic (probiotic) and Tuna Omega 3 Oil (Fish Oil) are a great foundational plan.
