Students will think about what makes their friend “special” or unique.
Students will verbalize a quality they like about their friend.
 Firefly Activity: Page 90 in TRAILS Teacher Manual.
 READ: The New Critter Next Door and discuss
 Activity: Introduction “Hello” Hi, my name is….., what’s yours? Shake hands, start
again.
Students will think about what makes their friend “special” or unique.
Students will introduce themselves to one another.
Students will explore different qualities/interests and if they share the same interests.
 READ: The New Critter Next Door and discuss
 Activity: Introduction “Hello” Hi, my name is….., what’s yours? Shake hands, start
again.
 Partner Buds: Identify interests that you both like, and complete sheet. (This worked
really well; need 15 minutes)
Students will think about what makes their friend “special” or unique.
Students will explore different qualities/interests and if they share the same interests.

Students will identify negative thoughts and recognize that they CONTROL their thinking;
thus, they can CHANGE their thinking to feel more positive or to control their emotions.



Students will become aware of Three Learning Styles: Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetic.

Read story on pages 147-148
Hand out folders and worksheet
Review the 3 different learning styles and complete page 154.
Given different directions, students will identify what learning style is being used,
completing the chart on page 152.
Closure: Karate Spelling, using this week’s spelling words: What learning styles are
being used?
